Two people have died after a migrant boat capsized in the Channel, according to reports in France.

The incident happened off the coast of Sangatte, near Calais, on Wednesday morning.

About 50 people are believed to have been on board when the migrant boat sank shortly after 8am.

Ferries between Dover and Calais are disrupted, with P&O, DFDS and Irish Ferries warning of long delays this morning.

46 people were rescued after the cramped vessel ran into trouble in the English Channel, about 2 km from the coast, French authorities said.

Searches for missing people in the area continue.
