‘Outright betrayal’: New report reveals DHS official used social media to promote illegal immigration

FIRST ON FOX: A Department of Homeland Security official has been promoting illegal immigration to the US, using platforms like YouTube and TikTok to offer advice to those crossing the border, according to a new report from a conservative organization.

Wilson Osorio is listed online as an associate attorney in the Office of the Chief Counsel for US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Fox News Digital reached out to the Department of Homeland Security and USCIS to confirm their work and comment on the report.

After Fox reached out, what appeared to be Osorio’s YouTube and TikTok accounts were made private, and his LinkedIn profile appeared to have been deleted.

The American Accountability Foundation is releasing the report, first obtained by Fox News Digital, which watched its videos and translated Spanish-language content.

“Osorio uses his TikTok, YouTube and Instagram channels to post video content, mostly of conversations with illegal immigrants, where he asks people to tell onlookers how much money they make, how they came to the United States and what wonderful is to enter and settle in the US illegally,” the report says.

Osorio started posting in July and has posted dozens of videos to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, the report says. In one video, it allegedly shows an illegal immigrant who now owns a restaurant.

“The American Dream is alive and well. This is the story of a Honduran immigrant who entered the United States illegally about 20 years ago. With hard work and dedication, he now owns a growing restaurant that brings over $1 million in sales,” her Instagram description said.

Other examples include a video that identified a migrant earning $1,000 a week selling fruit. In another video, an illegal immigrant is asked if he has any tips or advice for others who want to cross into the US illegally. The man responds by warning about dangers, including smugglers and desert heat.

“In 3 years my daughters and I will already have papers in the US,” another video captioned. The report says the woman in the video says she crossed illegally, but having three daughters helped her gain protection from deportation and eventually receive a work permit.

For another video, the description reads: “In the US you work hard for your money, but crossing the border was worth it. Thanks to my work here, I built a house in Honduras and will soon be moving back.”

Someone else is described in a separate video as receiving Reagan-era amnesty and now a citizen.

“I got papers for the amnesty, and now I’m a citizen,” says the person.

Another video identified the “significant role” undocumented immigrants play in construction, while highlighting the money they can earn in different occupations. A video gives advice to illegal immigrants if they are owed money at work.

“Wilson Osorio epitomizes the scourge of unelected radical left-wing bureaucrats who are turning this country upside down,” American Accountability Foundation President Thomas Jones said in a statement. “While earning his taxpayer-funded salary, Osorio is pushing his radical open-borders agenda that is endangering the safety, stability, and livelihoods of millions of Americans. It is a total betrayal of the Northern people – American. He must be fired immediately.”

DHS declined to comment on the officer’s social media activity.

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, said federal employees encouraging lawlessness was a “serious breach of the public trust,” but connected it to the policies of the Biden administration.

“Unfortunately, this comes as no surprise to the Biden-Harris administration and Mayorkas’ DHS, which has worked for four years to destroy America’s borders and invite illegal aliens, including thousands of violent criminals, into our coasts,” he told Fox News Digital.
