The mushroom collection notice has been increased due to a lack of antidote

Eating some mushrooms can be fatal. The risk of mortality is even greater this mushroom season due to a shortage of antidote, the toxic information warned this week.

According to RTS, around 100 people are poisoned by mushrooms a year. The poisonous mushrooms for which there is currently no antidote are known as the death cap mushroom (Amanite phalloide).

Tox Info recommends wild mushroom pickers to make sure the mushrooms they collect are checked by someone officially qualified in mushroom checks.

The antidote for amanita phalloides is currently not available in Switzerland or abroad until mid-November. Other treatment options are limited, and ingesting these mushrooms can be fatal, experts say.

Mushroom checkpoints can be found through this website.
