Drug investigation leads to felony arrests near Moorhead – InForum

MOORHEAD — Police say a drug investigation that began in June led to the arrest of two men as they approached the Moorhead area on Sunday, Nov. 3.

According to a report released by Moorhead Police:

The drug investigation began in June when local authorities learned that an organization was actively transporting illegal drugs from the Twin Cities to Moorhead, where the drugs were being distributed.

On Sunday, investigators pulled over two men in a vehicle as they approached the Moorhead area.

During the stop, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and morphine pills were seized, with an estimated street value of $15,000.

Moorhead police identified the people arrested as Tyler Kania, 35, of Moorhead, and Laquedrick Lemel As-Sidiq, 34, of St. Louis Park, Minn.

The two were taken to the Clay County Correctional Facility, where they are being held Tuesday, Nov. 5, on suspicion of felony drug charges, according to online jail records.

According to the Moorhead police report, As-Sidiq has a prior federal drug distribution conviction in Minnesota with a gang identified as “Taliban/Young N’ Thuggin.”

Moorhead police said gang members frequently travel to Minnesota, including the Moorhead area, to distribute illegal drugs.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted the Moorhead Police Department in the arrests over the weekend, the release said.
