Ekiti suspends principal for vacating school premises for social events

The Ekiti State Educational Service Commission has suspended the principal of Ekiti Baptist High School, Igede Ekiti, Mrs. Veronica Yemisi Ilesanmi, indefinitely for unauthorized release of the school’s playground for a social engagement.

A statement by the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Michael Boluwade, made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, said the principal was sanctioned for allowing the use of the school in flagrant disregard of the policy guidelines of the State Government. contained in a circular with the reference number EK/ED/AD/398/155 of August 12, 2024.

According to the statement, the circular prohibits the use of public school facilities in Ekiti State for any kind of social engagement.

Ms Ilesanmi was ordered to hand over all school property in her possession to the school’s senior vice principal and is barred from visiting the school premises during her suspension.
