Prosecutors accuse the suspect accused of robbing the Marathon gas station three times in eight days

(KNSI) — Prosecutors have charged a 25-year-old man after police say he robbed the same gas station three times in eight days.

According to criminal complaints, on the afternoon of Oct. 15, police were called to the Marathon Gas Station on the 700 block of 9th Avenue South following a robbery. The cashier showed police a video of the suspect, identified in court documents as Camden Jackson, walking around the store, grabbing items before jumping over the counter and saying something to the cashier, who then opens the register. Jackson took money out of the cash drawer and left. The victim told police that Jackson pointed a black semi-automatic style handgun and said “give me the money.” Officers received a call from someone who lives near the store saying there was a fake gun in a plastic bag under a trash can in the parking lot of a building that was near the store and also consistent with the direction in which he fled.

On October 20, police were called to the same gas station for another robbery that was similar to the first, with Jackson showing up around the same time of day, appearing to be there to buy something, but then jumping over the counter and taking money. from the register before fleeing the scene. By comparing the video of the two robberies, police say they concluded they were committed by the same person. Upon viewing surveillance video from nearby apartments, police said they noticed he was wearing the same pants as the suspect from the first incident. They also saw Jackson meet up with someone they spoke to later who confirmed he was the suspect.

On Oct. 21, police were called to the gas station again where they spoke with a woman who told investigators her brother was the person they were looking for. Officers showed her the video and told them she was “convinced without a doubt” it was her brother. She said the hoodie Jackson wore during one of the robberies was one she stole from her daughter.

Two days later, officers were called back to Marathon for another robbery. The employee said when the suspect entered, he was told he was not allowed to be there. Instead of leaving, Jackson jumped on the counter and made a gesture like he had a knife in his hoodie pocket and continued to push him and motion him away from the register. He says Jackson took about $200 in cash right away from the register and then fled the scene. This cashier is the same one Jackson is accused of pulling the gun on in the first robbery.

After viewing video of the third incident, police eventually determined that Jackson was indeed their suspect and decided that “due to the nature of the crime” and his “fleeing from the scene,” it was necessary a warrant “to prevent further injury to the public.” .”

Jackson was charged Friday with aggravated robbery in the first and second degrees and simple robbery. All three are felonies.
