Guernsey’s medical specialist group fined for data errors

Dr Steve Evans, chairman of MSG, which is contracted to provide secondary care in Guernsey, said: “We have co-operated fully with the investigation process throughout and accepted the enforcement order.

“This issue arose from the lack of clarity of a provision in our data processing agreement with HSC.

“We recognize that it is important for those concerned to obtain information in a timely manner and have already apologized to the parents concerned for the uncertainty here.”

He added that it was something the MSG “has now taken forward with the assistance of the HSC so that the position is clarified in the future”.

“We would like to reassure Islanders that this was not an issue of a breach of patient confidentiality and we remain committed to the highest standards of patient protection.”
