Mel Gibson claims Kamala Harris has the ‘IQ of a fence post’

Mel Gibson has long been held up as evidence that cancel the culture— the one elastic term applied to situations where people experience repercussions for their actions and statements TO his work on the public market— is a myth. The actor and director, who made headlines for a bigoted and sexist rant during a traffic stop, threats of sexual and racist violence against an ex-girlfriend, and allegations of domestic violence, allegedly return to grace in recent yearswhen including stars Jodie Foster, Andrew Garfield gathered around him, as did the members of the various eager prize bodies for the hon for well reviewed film Hacksaw Ridge. And now he seems poised to overturn the pretense that Hollywood denizens support the Republican nominee Donald Trump they will lose their career. This week, the star made some surprising statements on camera about the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harrisstrongly suggesting that he would vote for the man in the red hat.

It is unfair even for Trump to assume that everyone who has made misogynistic statements, attacked Jews, or openly used racial slurs is a supporter of the former president. But Gibson’s history of behavior aside — which we’ll get to in a moment — it appears that he has signaled his support for Trump in the past, when he he seemed to react with dismay When Meryl Streep slammed the then-president at the 2017 Golden Globes. That signal grew stronger when Mel Gibson was accosted by a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this week.

In a video published by TMZ, a photographer who captured Gibson walking through the airport asked: “The president is going to be voted in a few days, what do you think?”

“Oh man, that’s a big question,” Gibson replied with a grin. “I don’t think it’s going to surprise anyone I’m voting for.”

“I’m going to guess Trump,” the photographer told Gibson. “Is that a bad guess?” “I think that’s a pretty good guess,” Gibson replied, without endorsing the Republican by name.

“What do you think the world would be like in a second (Trump) term,” the photographer asked Gibson as he continued to walk through the terminal. “I know what it’s going to be like if we let her in,” Gibson replied, with particular emphasis on the “she.” “And that’s not good.”

At that point, Gibson apparently slowed down to make his point to the camera. “Terrible appeal,” Gibson said of Harris. “No politics to speak of. And he has the IQ of a fence post.”

At that point, the video ends, so it’s unclear if Gibson had words of praise for Harris’ opponent or if he’s more motivated by his distaste for the vice president.

Gibson, who during a DUI arrest in 2006 announced that “Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world!” was recorded apparently admitting to an incident of domestic violence with the mother of one of his children in tapes released in 2010, saying then that “You damn well deserved it.”

“If you get raped by a group of people, it will be your fault.” he told her in a separate conversation from that time, using a racial slur against people of black ethnic heritage.

Despite these scandals, Gibson did continued to work in Hollywoodbut if Shazam! star Zachary LeviHis dark thoughts are correct, his implicit support for Trump could be his ultimate undoing.

Levi, who announced his endorsement of Trump at the beginning of this monthrecently posted a large video on Instagram saying — among other claims — that there are a number of actors who support the former president but are afraid to say so publicly.

“There are a lot, and by the way, I’ve been texted a lot, a lot of people in my industry, in Hollywood, who are terrified to say publicly that they’re going to vote for Donald Trump or that they’re going to be conservative in any way,” Levi Levi. said. “That’s why you don’t see them. That is why they are not very widespread or prominent. They know there are ramifications for this kind of shit.”

“My shout out to all of you shut out Trump voters out there, it’s now or never. Do whatever you feel you have to do. If you have to go out in public and say it, if you feel like you still can’t, then don’t. I would never pressure you to do this. But know that if what you’re afraid of is somehow the reaction of an industry that won’t exist very soon, then don’t let that hold you back.”

But while Levi and fellow actor Dennis Quaid have indeed spoken openly about their affection and support for Donald Trump, it’s not like Gibson even managed to say his name. Instead, he seemed to turn his passion toward tearing down Harris, behavior that, given his past actions, seems to be part of a pattern that Hollywood seems to ignore.
