While the Lawrence Bishnoi gang remains a significant concern, Delhi-NCR faces threats from nine other dangerous gangs, some directly opposed to Lawrence Bishnoi’s operations. These gangs, known for extorting businessmen in Delhi and beyond, are a constant challenge to the Delhi Police.

Neeraj Bawana Gang: This gang, led by jailed gangster Neeraj Bawana, operates with impunity even from Tihar Jail. Bawana, arrested in April 2015 by the Delhi Police Special Cell, is believed to have orchestrated extortion rackets from his cell targeting businessmen in Delhi and Haryana.

Hashim Baba Gang: Hashim Baba, another jailed gangster, is involved in the deadly attack at Delhi’s GTB Hospital. With 16 criminal cases against him, including murder and attempted murder, Baba, once a sharpshooter for the Nasir gang in Yamuna Par, now leads his formidable gang.

The Nasir-Irfan gang: This gang fights for control over illegal betting and gambling operations in the Yamuna Par areas, causing significant concern for the Delhi-NCR Police.

Himanshu Bhau Gang: At just 22, Himanshu Bhau, from Rohtak, Haryana, has amassed over 50 criminal cases in Haryana and Punjab, including charges of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and violations of the Arms Act. His gang was linked to the shooting at a Tilak Nagar luxury car showroom in May and the killing of a Rajouri Garden Burger King.

Manjit Mahal Gang: Manjit Mahal, a former enforcer for the Anoop-Balraj gang, is famous for allegedly taking out several associates of gangster-turned-politician Kishan Pehelwan. Active in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Mahal, a resident of southwest Delhi’s Mitraon village, was also implicated in the 2016 killing of INLD leader Bharat Singh Bharate. Despite being incarcerated in Tihar Jail, his gang members continue to target rivals of the Sangwan brothers’ gang.

Sampath Nehra Gang: After the courtroom assassination of Jitender Maan alias Gogi in September 2021, Sampat Nehra took control of the gang. Nehra, the son of a sub-inspector and a former college athlete, is known for recruiting youth and teenagers. Currently imprisoned in Punjab, his gang remains active.

Gang Kaushal Chaudhary: Kaushal Chaudhary, a staunch rival of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was allegedly involved in the August 2021 murder of young politician Vicky Middukheda in Mohali. Currently jailed in Punjab, Chaudhary faces more than a dozen charges, including murder, as his gang continues extortion activities in Punjab and Delhi.

Neeraj Faridpuria Gang: Wanted for the June 2019 killing of Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary in Faridabad, Neeraj Faridpuria and his associates are known for extorting grain traders and ‘arhatiyas’ in Haryana. Associated with the Kaushal gang, members of the Faridpuria gang have also been linked to extortion cases in Delhi.

Kapil Sangwan aka Nandu Gang: Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, 32, is wanted by both the Haryana and Delhi police and is suspected to be living in the United Kingdom. He is the prime suspect in the killing of Lok Dal’s Haryana unit chief Nafe Singh Rathi. His brother Jyoti Sangwan alias Baba is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail.

Meanwhile, in a crackdown on the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested at least seven suspected shooters who were planning to target someone in Rajasthan. The arrests come days after the sensational killing of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai on October 12. The Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder.
