Local man sentenced to seven years in prison for alleged telephone threats against public servant

A local woman was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday for allegedly making threats with a mobile phone against a public official.

According to the Bexar County Prosecutor’s Office, on October 10, Alicia Arredondo was found guilty of retaliation by a Bexar County jury.

Today, the same jury sentenced Arredondo to seven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

According to official documents, Arredondo made cell phone threats against a public official in retaliation for his role in the prosecution of her son, who is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The threats were recorded in Arredondo’s voicemails on November 2, 2022. In the voicemail, she stated, “We’re coming for you and your family, so look both ways.”

We must protect our employees who work tirelessly to uphold the law and keep the community safe,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said in a news release. “This conviction sends a clear message that threats and intimidation against any Bexar County staff member. The prosecution or other public officials will not be tolerated.

The trial was presided over by 175th District Court Judge Torres-Stahl. The Public Integrity and Cybercrime Division handled the prosecution.
