Sugar plays a key role in keeping your overall weight stable. reducing sugar intake is key to effective weight loss. Sugar is high in calories, but offers little nutritional value and leads to weight gain if consumed in excess. So where do you cut sugar?

Instead of cutting back on sugar suddenly, take baby steps. Cutting back on added sugars, such as these or processed foods, will cut calories and increase overall health. Foods like fruits and vegetables contain natural sugars, fiber, vitamins and minerals that aid digestion and prevent sudden spikes in blood sugar. Replacing sugary snacks with foods high in protein, healthy fats, or whole grains can fill you up longer and keep unwanted calories out of your body.
Read product labels carefully because sugar could be labeled by many other names, such as fructose, sucrose, or corn syrup in most processed foods.

Diet plays a key role in weight gain. There are certain signs to look out for. Frequent hunger or cravings even after eating suggest that your diet is unhealthy and causing you to gain weight. Excess refined carbohydrates or sugar intake causes spikes and drops in blood sugar, which stimulate overeating.
Low energy is another manifestation of an unhealthy diet usually caused by a diet of more processed foods and less nutrients. Feeling bloated or having digestive problems can also be related to high salt intake or poor food selection. You could gain weight if your portion sizes were more than your body requires and you only eat such healthy foods.
