Sebastian Stan, who will reprise his role as Bucky Barnes in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, is currently promoting his upcoming film The Apprentice. The actor also revealed his hopes for his role in the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday and who he wants to share the screen with.

What Sebastian Stan Said About Robert Downey Jr.’s Return in the MCU?

Sebastian Stan recently sat down for a chat with GQ promoting his upcoming appearance on Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice, in which he plays Donald Trump.

In the interview, Stan was asked about his feelings about the return of Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom. Praising Downey Jr. for his acting skills, Sebastian Stan said, “Is there any other guy who can pull it off? I don’t know, probably not. After Tropic Thunder, is there anything this guy can’t do?”

While answering, he also expressed his desire to share the screen with Downy Jr. in Avengers: Doomsday. Stan said, “I hope to be in a scene with him.” The two shared dialogue with each other in Captain America: Civil War and also in the Avengers: Endgame ensemble.

The return of Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024. The reveal was made by Marvel boss Kevin Feige and Joe and Anthony Russo. The Russos are also returning to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, following the revelation, Robert Downey Jr. interacted with the crowd at San Diego Comic-Con. He said, “New mask. Same task. Boy, I tell you, I like playing complicated characters.”
