Ten Hag to face ‘looting’ Man Utd this weekend as PL boss reveals ‘open’ to job

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag could be sacked this weekend if the Red Devils lose against Brentford, according to reports, after Thomas Frank said he is “open” to the job.

The Red Devils have made a terrible start to the new Premier League campaign with the Ten Hag side sitting 14th in the Premier League table.

Man Utd they have won just two of their opening seven Premier League games, scoring five goals and picking up just eight points in the process.

This has put a lot of pressure on Ten Hag’s job with speculation that Man Utd are already lining up potential candidates should they decide to sack him.

And now the Daily Mail claim Man Utd could sack Ten Hag this weekend if they lose against Frank’s Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

It comes after INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe held a meeting of Man Utd’s executive committee last week, in which the future of Ten Hag was discussed.

But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said earlier this week that Ten Hag was “never close to being sacked” during the international break.

“They are preparing for the Brentford game. Ten Hag has not received any formal communication from the Man Utd board saying he can continue with the job.” Romano said.

“The Man Utd board never thought they had to say anything to the manager. They talked about the situation, the problems they have at the club and the slow start in the Premier League and the Europa League but they never had to say -nothing directly to Ten Hag.

“The club insist he was never close to being sacked this week or last. So that’s the feeling – they have issues and they’re discussing Ten Hag’s position for sure, but it was never anything close to be resolved in the last few days.

“That’s why Erik ten Hag has always focused on the Brentford game to improve the situation in terms of results and performances.”

Man Utd have been linked with numerous managers, including Max Allegri, Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter, Eddie Howe and New England boss Thomas Tuchel, and target Frank has now said he would be “open” to leaving Brentford.

On the speculations that linked him with Man Utd and elsewhere, Frank said talkSPORT: “I’ve said many times that I’m very happy at Brentford.

“Who knows what will happen in the future. Maybe I’ll stay here for many years. I’m open, maybe something happens.

“But first of all, very happy, just working very hard every day to improve the club.”

When asked what he meant by his “open” comment, Frank replied: “That’s because it’s very difficult to predict the future.

“Who knows what will happen. How many coaches have been at the same club for more than six years? Very few

“(It’s) the nature of the game, let’s put it that way.”

When pushed specifically about the Man Utd rumours, Frank added: “There are a lot of rumors going around.

“Each club, each coach, all kinds of situations. I have this nice principle that I never talk about players who are not at my club because I don’t know them well enough. And I’m not talking about speculation by any means.”
