Two terrorists, who opened fire on a camp housing construction workers in Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on October 20, killing seven, have been captured on CCTV footage armed with a rifle American-made M4 assault carbine and an AK-47.

CCTV footage released by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday showed that the two armed terrorists spent around seven minutes at the workers’ camp in Gagangir area of ​​Ganderbal before fleeing the spot.

The CCTV camera at the construction site captured the face of the attackers and they entered the camp with a rifle.

A report of Indian Express quoted sources say that there was no CCTV camera installed at the place where the two terrorists first opened fire. “CCTV captured the area they were heading to next – the two can be seen entering and opening fire. They also attacked the mess before coming out and shooting more workers,” a source said.

According to the initial investigation, the terrorists had placed a grenade inside a vehicle parked inside the camp premises before shooting the driver.

“After recording the statements of the injured and a security guard who managed to escape, it came to light that initially, the workers thought that some people were bursting firecrackers. But within two to three minutes, they realized it was a terrorist attack,” sources quoted in the report said.

What weapons did they carry?

The Indian Express report quoted sources as further saying that the terrorists were armed with an M4 carbine assault rifle and an AK-47, and that 37-40 spent cartridges were recovered from the site.

The duo also shot all the areas where there was light, as the power went out in the camp seconds before they started.

Security agencies along with the local police are interrogating villagers to find out the details of the local handler of the terrorists, who helped them conduct a reconnaissance before the attack on Sunday (October 20) evening .

According to a report by the hindusecurity agencies suspect that the attackers might be hiding in the flanks of the thick forests adjacent to the attack site.

Terror attack in Ganderbal district of J&K

On October 20, at around 19:25, when some employees gathered in the dining area for dinner, two armed terrorists entered and started shooting.

Seven people, including six non-local workers and a doctor from Budgam in Kashmir, were killed in the attack. They were working for Uttar Pradesh-based infrastructure company APCO Infratech, which is building the Z-Morh tunnel on the Srinagar-Sonamarg highway.

The tunnel will make the Srinagar-Sonamarg road an all-weather road and after it is functional, Sonamarg will be an all-season tourist destination.

The camp, which the terrorists attacked on October 28, is located just below an approach road to the tunnel, and is surrounded by barren mountains on one side and the Srinagar-Leh National Highway on the other.
