Exterior renovations completed at the Ace of Clubs in Texarkana | Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Texas – Renovations continue on one of the most unique homes in the country.

The Ace of Clubs, located in downtown Texarkana, was built in 1885 and restoration efforts on the exterior of the house have just been completed. The Texarkana Museum System is now preparing to begin interior remodeling.

The museum system has partnered with the Wilbur Smith Rotary Club to host a fundraiser next month to celebrate the completion of the exterior restoration and kick off the second phase of the project. Executive Director Emily Tarr says they hope to raise about $400,000 to complete repairs inside the house.

The two-story brick Italianate mansion has 22 sides. It is shaped like a club: from a deck of cards.

Tarr says some of the remodeling inside includes painting, refinishing the floors, repairing water damage and rewiring the house.

The building is popular with tourists and has even been featured on HGTV. It is used for special events, historical exhibits and educational programs.

“We’re still getting calls asking for tours to come, groups of people wanting to take pictures there. They want to have weddings and events on the lawn. We have a pretty expansive South Lawn at the house,” Tarr said.
