Asylum applications are also falling in Austria
The situation is similar in Austria, where there are also signs of a sharp decline in the number of asylum applications for the whole of 2024. Up to and including September, 18,816 applications have been submitted. This is a good 25,000 less than in the first nine months of 2023, which corresponds to a 57% decrease. This is significantly higher than in Europe as a whole, where figures only fell by eight per cent.
