ICC gives good news to PCB amid India’s unclear stance on ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan – Report

The International Cricket Council is pleased with the information from the PCB regarding the renovation work being carried out in Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

According to a report in Geo News, Pakistan’s apex cricket body assured the ICC that work on the stadiums would be completed in time for the big event.

PCB Chairman Moshin Naqvi was also present during the ICC meeting. He invited officials to visit Pakistan to review site improvements. The ICC tournament will be played from February 19 to March 9, 2025, with Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi as the venues.

The PCB wants to host the entire Champions Trophy in Pakistan, and it looks like the country is leaving no stone unturned for the main event. However, India has not confirmed its participation due to political tensions between the two countries.

Pakistan has kept Lahore as the venue for Team India’s matches, including the knockouts. The PCB has made another proposal to the BCCI, allowing the team to leave Pakistan after playing all the matches and settle in Delhi or Chandigarh to avoid staying in the neighboring country. However, the BCCI official has denied receiving any proposal, adding that even if they receive a proposal from the PCB, it would be rejected.

There is also an option to host the tournament in a hybrid model, with India playing their matches in the UAE. If the men in blue qualify for the playoffs, even one of the semi-finals and the final will be played outside Pakistan.
