Diablo 4 Hotfix 2.0.3 fixes raw leather and iron chunk “saved” materials

Diablo 4 Hotfix 2.0.3 fixes raw leather and iron chunk “saved” materials

Finally, Blizzard has addressed the shortage of Raw Leather and Iron Shards in Diablo 4, releasing Hotfix 2.0.3 so that players can continue to farm basic crafting materials.

The problem started with the Vessel of Hatred expansion that launched in early October. Players quickly noticed that chunks of rawhide and iron, used for everything from armor to jewelry, were dropping at a painfully low rate.

The masterwork team, an essential process for high-level play, required thousands of these materials. Some players reported spending over 47 hours farming just for one item upgrade.

Patch 2.0.3, released on October 21st, increases the drop rates of these materials, although Blizzard has remained tight-lipped about the exact numbers.

The increased drop rate of Rawhide and Iron Chunk is a welcome change in Diablo 4. The scarcity was making Diablo 4 a hassle fest for even basic upgrades, and many players felt “protected” of these basic materials.

In direct response to the fix, one player said, “That’s all cool and fancy, but let’s talk about the elephant in the room… why did Blizzard get involved in the first place.”

Rawhide and Iron Chunks have been in Diablo 4 since the base game launched in 2023, but it wasn’t until the release of Vessel of Hatred and Season 6 that players noticed their scarcity.

Although not confirmed by Blizzard, it is likely that the material nerf is tied to the new mercenary, Subo, who marks resources on the map. With Iron Chunks and Rawhide now easily visible, Blizzard may have lowered their drop rates to add challenge. This move would be controversial, as Subo is only available in the paid expansion Vessel of Hatred.

Others shared detailed breakdowns of the absurd farming times, noting that updating a single item could take more than nine hours of boss grinding.

Community backlash has intensified. “Are we really being protected from Rawhide and Iron?” asked a frustrated player. “How is this so hard to fix?”

Despite this hiccup, the Vessel of Hatred expansion itself has been a success. It has been praised by fans and critics alike, with some calling it “Diablo 4 in its definitive form”.
