12 kg gold jewelery recovered during checking on Yamuna Expressway

Mathura (UP): Police and excise department teams recovered 12-kilogram gold jewelery during routine inspection on the Yamuna Expressway, officials said on Tuesday. The recovery was made during vehicle inspection on Monday night, Additional Superintendent of Rural Police Trigun Bisen said.

Bisen said 12 packages were found in an SUV, adding 12 kg of gold jewelery in these packages.

As the driver could not produce valid papers, the jewelery was handed over to the commercial tax department, which is investigating the matter.

Assistant Commissioner, GST, Kartar Singh said driver Vivek Gupta told the police that he was taking the consignment to Deoria, adding that both the vehicle and the recovered jewelery had been seized.
