The 12 places occupied for the 2024 edition

A compilation of some of the best mid-race jockey moves.

Everest The field is almost ready for 2024, with all 12 places now filled through a public announcement.

While betting remains ‘all-in’ until Tuesday’s official declaration, along with the barrier draw, we have 12 horses locked in by the slot holders to contest the sprint for Saturday’s feature.

The race, worth $20 million this year, has brought together only three previous Everest runners, including the 2022 winner. Giga Kick. Last year’s winner think about it it has no slot.

Powerful mare Beautiful Granddaughter is having her first hit at the age of seven, she already has more than 11 million dollars in her prize kitty.

TOP FIVE: Impressive mid-race moves

Private Eye is having his third crack: the 7-year-old gelding won 0.44 and 0.76l in the last two editions. He’s another eight figure in the kitty with $10.6 million in prize money to date.

I would like to win He came agonizingly close last year, beaten by 0.4L by Think About It: He tops the aforementioned horse stakes with $12m in the bank.

Giga Kick is looking to win the crown again, having returned this spring from a long injury layoff; his earnings are a paltry $9.6 million (!), but just running in this race will put him in eight figures, even if he runs last.

But there are plenty of “new kids on the block” looking to make their mark on the big time.

There is a quartet of 3-year-olds in the field: colts Storm Boy, Growing Empire and Traffic Warden, plus Golden Slipper-winning filly Lady Of Camelot, who is the clear outsider in the field at this stage.
