The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have released footage showing Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar heading to an underground bunker before the October 7 attacks.

The terror boss can be seen carrying supplies through a tunnel while his wife Abu Zamar appears to be holding a £25,000 Hermes Birkin.

Sinwar was killed by Israeli troops on Wednesday as the Israeli military released drone footage it said showed Sinwar in a partially destroyed house before he was killed by a tank shell.

The latest image shows the terrorist carrying large packs of water bottles, comfort pillows and other supplies inside a narrow concrete tunnel.

The clip shows Sinwar helping his two young children through the tunnel as his smiling wife follows him clutching the luxury bag.

Israel shared the images on his official X account, writing: “Sinwar’s wife captured in this photo snuck into the tunnels the night before October 7th, get this, grabbing a $32,000 Hermes Birkin bag!

“While the people of Gaza endured hardship under Hamas, Sinwar and his family lived unabashedly in luxury, indulging while sending others to die.”

IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari added: “Hours before the massacre, Sinwar only cared about himself and his family as he sent terrorists for the murderous attack on Israeli men, women and children.

“This was a luxury that the people of Gaza did not have, as Sinwar always prioritized himself, his money and Hamas terrorists above the people of Gaza.”

Israel’s foreign minister confirmed Sinwar’s death on Thursday following DNA tests on bodies recovered from the scene.

Sinwar has long been hailed as the mastermind behind the October 7 attacks.

The past few hours had seen Israeli forces investigating whether Sinwar had been killed as part of the IDF ground operation, after three people were killed in the operation in Gaza.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant addressed X after the operation, writing, “We will get every terrorist and eliminate him,” adding shortly after that “our enemies cannot hide- yes”.

There are hopes that Sinwar’s death could bring an end to the war. Former Defense Secretary Grant Shapps told LBC’s Andrew Marr: “It is a very significant moment and I hope that it can herald the beginning of the end of the situation in Gaza, both for the people of Gaza and for the Israelis.”

Sinwar, who has led Hamas in Gaza since 2017, is believed to have joined the militant group in the early 1980s.

As news broke of the possible death of the Hamas leader, the IDF released a statement describing the ground operation in Gaza.

“During IDF operations in Gaza, 3 terrorists were eliminated,” the IDF said in a statement.

“The IDF and ISA are investigating the possibility that one of the terrorists was Yahya Sinwar. At this time, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed.”

“In the building where the terrorists were eliminated, there were no signs of the presence of hostages in the area.

“The forces that are operating in the area continue to act with the necessary caution.”

Three Israeli officials have now reported that one of the three bodies found in the house is “most likely” that of the Hamas leader, according to Axios reporter Barak Ravid.

The Israeli military is reportedly awaiting DNA and fingerprint confirmation to confirm the identity of the bodies.

It comes as fifteen people are said to have been killed, including at least five children, by an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza.

The figures, released by the Hamas-run health ministry, said the Abu Hussein school in Jabalia, northern Gaza, was the target.

It is a site said to be hosting displaced people, according to ministry official Medhat Abbas.

He told Reuters: “There is no water to put out the fire. There is nothing.”

A building in central Beirut that houses the offices of the Al Jazeera news network and the Norwegian embassy has been evacuated following a warning.

Mazen Ibrahim, Al Jazeera’s Lebanon bureau chief, said the building’s administration received three calls telling everyone to leave the property, which he said housed the Norwegian embassies and Azerbaijan, as well as dozens of offices.

He said it was unclear who called the alert.

Norwegian foreign ministry spokeswoman Ragnhild Simenstad said the building was evacuated after a “bomb threat,” without elaborating.

Israel has ordered the evacuation of several buildings, as well as cities, towns and entire villages, as it attacks what it says are targets linked to the militant group Hezbollah.
