Harare man stabs rival suitor to death – Newsday Zimbabwe

The victim suffered head injuries and was taken to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, where he died on admission.

HARARE man Takudzwa Gadziria (25) has been arrested for murder after he allegedly stabbed a rival suitor to death in a fight over a girlfriend.

Police confirmed the incident that happened in Southlea Park on Saturday and identified the deceased as David Nyaudzeni (29).

“The suspect stabbed the victim with a butcher knife once in the chest following a fight over a girlfriend,” police said in a statement.

Nyaudzeni was taken to a local clinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival, after which his body was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

In a related case, police in Matobo district in Matabeleland South province recently arrested Gibson Ndlovu (72) in connection with the killing of Mncedisi Ndebele (39).

On October 19 at around 3am, Ndebele reportedly confronted Ndlovu at his home armed with a machete accusing him of “invading his yard before hitting him on the left hand with the same weapon

A scuffle then ensued and Ndlovu disarmed Ndebele and turned the machete on him. He allegedly beat Ndebele all over the body. Ndlovu is reported to have later dumped Ndebele’s body in his yard before it was retrieved and taken to the Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for a post-mortem.

In another case, Harare police officers have warned “bus and commuter bus drivers not to open doors while the vehicles are in motion”.

This follows a fatal road accident that occurred along Nemakonde Road near Conway College, Harare on Saturday. A bus driver (27) died after opening the door while the vehicle was in motion with the intention of picking up a passenger, but fell to the tarmac before being hit by the bus’ left rear wheels .

The victim suffered head injuries and was taken to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, where he died on admission.
