Digital Foundry releases more The Last of Us Part 2 PS4 Pro footage

Earlier this month, Digital Foundry got a chance to go hands-on with the PlayStation 5 Pro at Sony’s London office, walking away with high-quality footage of The Last of Us Part 2 and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. You’ve already seen our analysis pieces on how each of these games compares in Pro to the standard model, along with a breakdown of the PSSR boost quality compared to DLSS and FSR. However, one of the comments we got loud and clear was the demand to just see more games in action, without any of our usual head-to-head comparisons.

All of which brings us to this Eurogamer news post, where we just give it a go, starting with Naughty Dog’s PSSR PS5 Pro update for The Last of Us Part 2. If you remember, the Pro enhancements here refer to the ‘scaling with the simple TAA scale. it was replaced by Sony’s new machine learning-based counterpart. The base resolution of 1440p remains unchanged from the standard PS5, but PSSR offers substantial improvements in image quality, as you can see with this expanded video edit that focuses much more on the overall presentation.

In addition to the capture, you’ll get to hear myself and Oliver Mackenzie summarize our overall impressions (we’ve both played the Pro version at this point), plus there’s a more general discussion of the opportunities we’ve had with the game and with the Pro in general.

Normally, DF Clips aims to boil down our lengthy weekly DF Direct program into its component modules for ease of consumption, but we also release exclusive content from time to time, with plenty of PS5 Pro footage now in our possession, and often not let’s finish on the main channel, it’s a good place for some extra material, so please consider subscribing!

Next, we’ll be offering new material on Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, and we’ll also be posting comprehensive Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth content with commentary from Oliver and John Linneman (again, both played it)… so stay tuned. that’s why in due time.
