Worthing: The investigation after a pothole appeared on Mill Road

An investigation has been launched after a sinkhole appeared on a street in Worthing.

The sinkhole, on Mill Road in the west of the town, was reported to Sussex Police at around 8.20pm BST on Thursday.

West Sussex Highways said engineers had installed two-way traffic lights to help traffic avoid the hole and recommended that utilities check for a leak.

A spokeswoman said: “We ask the public to follow the temporary traffic measures in place and thank residents for their patience as we work to resolve this issue.”
