What does Wall Street really expect from Netflix in terms of subscriber growth?

While the FactSet consensus is for 3.5 million paid net adds at Netflix, buy estimates look considerably higher.

Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney believes the buy side is looking at about 6.5 million net paid additions. That expectation is “somewhat high,” he wrote, as is the buy-side projection of $9.85 billion or more in third-quarter revenue. The FactSet consensus calls for $9.77 billion.

That said, “conviction on material performance in the third quarter is likely to be low,” as Mahaney sees the stock as “an average performer within the quarter.”
