Fact-checking Harris’ immigration claim in Fox News interview

“I can’t imagine the pain that the families of these victims have experienced over a loss that shouldn’t have happened, so it’s true,” Harris said. “It’s also true that if a border security bill had been passed nine months ago, it would have been nine months that we would have had more border agents at the border, more support for people who are working all day trying to stay . all to ensure that no future harm would occur.”

Harris declined to say whether the elimination of Trump-approved border executive policies, such as Remain in Mexico, was a mistake. Instead, Harris went on to blame Trump for lobbying against the aforementioned border bill that was proposed after the Nungaray killers immigrated to the United States illegally.

Harris also falsely claimed that Trump was responsible for making taxpayer-funded sex-change surgeries “available” to federal inmates. In reality, the Trump administration continued to push back against a transgender inmate who took the White House to court. The Biden-Harris administration agreed to and paid for the surgery in 2022.
