‘No Excuse’: Grey’s Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch, who faked cancer diagnosis, opens up amid docuseries based on her controversies

Elisabeth Finch, the former Grey’s Anatomy writer who faked her cancer diagnosis on the show’s set, has opened up to the media after Peacock’s docuseries Anatomy of Lies released the show’s first preview of three parts

Taking to social media, the former writer and producer of the long-running medical series stated that she would not make excuses or say anything else as she takes full responsibility for her actions.

On Tuesday, October 15, the streaming platform released the first look at the upcoming docuseries, where people close to Finch revealed the writer’s personal and inner details, doing their best to make her believable.

Andy Rease, who worked with Finch on the sets, shared that the writer and producer would take breaks to throw up and come on set with a shaved head.

Meanwhile, spilling the beans about his act, Finch stated on his social media: “The truth is there is no excuse or justification, nothing will make my lies to anyone okay.”

He further added: “Nothing erases the trauma I caused – the fear, the pain, the anger, the tears, the time. And nothing matters to me more than holding myself accountable in every way. I will continue to make amends the damage I can. and make sure I’m not the worst I’ve done.”

Finch stated that she knows it will take time for people to forgive her, but she is willing to wait.

Rease mentioned in the docuseries clip that Finch also requested medical accessories on the Grey’s Anatomy set, which would help him work longer on the show. Finch’s lies were finally uncovered in March 2022, after Disney and the production company launched an investigation into Finch’s medical records.

She was put on administrative leave, which led the production company to submit its resignation and close the investigation. Although the writer initially did not submit the documents, she revealed in December of the same year that she had been faking her illness all along.

Anatomy of Lies will be available to stream on Peacock from October 15.
