Young mother finds strength through adversity to finish Roseau mural

Roseau, Minn. (Valley News Live) – A Minnesota woman is sharing what she calls her David and Goliath story.

Life seemed to be falling into place for Angelina Korb.

His career as an artist was taking off, he had reconnected with the love of his life and they had two young daughters.

“I got everything I wanted, for a while,” Korb said. “He was my happily ever after, until he wasn’t.”

Korb had just started work on a mural in Roseau.

He was on the scaffolding when his phone rang.

“I knew right then. I could hear it in his voice,” Korb said. “It was the same when my sister died, the same sound.”

Cam, the father of her children, was 28 when he overdosed on air plume.

He had struggled with addiction all his life and Korb always worried that this day would come.

“I didn’t know if I could go on. I looked at it. I looked at this massive thing,” he said of the mural. “I knew if I could pull it off, it would be a great story.”

For Cam, her daughters, her family and herself, Korb ended up finishing the mural.

She took a week off to grieve.

“The times I doubted myself, God did not leave me. The times I didn’t know what to do, God knew what to do,” Korb added. “He was with me the whole time. He was with me in every decision I made, in every brushstroke I put on the wall.”

Korb is grateful for her time with Cam and looks forward to the day they are together again.

Until then, she has a lot to be thankful for and hopes others will find hope in her story.

“People who struggle with pain and people who struggle with addiction, I hope they can find strength through God and know that with Him all things are possible,” Korb said.
