Ari Lennox’s sobriety leads to social media exit

Ari Lennox’s sobriety journey is taking a new turn as he plans to disconnect from social media permanently. The singer recently took to Instagram to inform her fans and followers that she plans to permanently delete her social media pages at the end of 2024. This comes almost two years after Lennox decided to change her lifestyle and quit drugs and alcohol.

On Friday, Oct. 11, the “Pression” singer posted a mirror selfie attached to a lengthy caption. In the post, he detailed his plan to “quit social media for good.” He went on to describe what social media has done to his mental health and psyche. He then stated that his last day using social media will be December 18, the two-year anniversary of Lennox’s sobriety decision.

“I’m working on a plan to get off social media for good. I don’t think I’ll ever mature and be happy while I’m on it. So my last day on social will be December 18th, my 2nd anniversary of sobriety. I’m going to delete my FB , IG and TikTok permanently,” he wrote.

The 33-year-old alluded to her previous desires to quit social media, but feared that quitting the apps would lead her back to her career goals. However, he is no longer worried about missing out on brand deals and music sales. He said he believes he will find a way to reach his fans without social media.

“The fear of losing brand deals, music sales, n****sib***es is not going to keep me here anymore,” he said.

Lennox completed his caption by speaking directly to his fans. She admitted that social media had compromised her happiness and she was no longer willing to make that sacrifice. He also offered spaces where his fans can still interact with his content. Music fans and listeners can keep up with their upcoming releases there.

“I’m so exhausted with my addiction to the internet and gossip and attention and validation and wanting to be in control and overshare. I just want to be free and whole. I’d like to offer other spaces where you can find me and this is YouTube.com/arilennox and Arilennox.com and on the singing stage or outside.”

Recall that in December 2023, Lennox took to social media to announce the one-year anniversary of his decision to quit drinking. according to Hip-Hop DXin the post, she admitted to using alcohol to cope with trauma and pain. He also detailed his excuses for drinking linked to his fear of flying.

“You see, drinking was my ritual to combat my immense fear of flying,” she wrote in the now-deleted post. “Alcohol alone” could have killed me. I had many guardian angels watching over me that day. Thank God no one was driving.”

After getting sober, the singer realized she could fly without consuming alcohol.

“I decided that December 18, 2022 would be the day I would get clean. You know what I realized after 1 year of many flights sober? I never needed alcohol to get through the flight. I thought I needed alcohol to escape the my reality and to deal with it. I needed an excuse to drink and not feel the pain of everyday life and the trauma. It was my dormant vacation to avoid my purpose and my truth,” she said.

Although he’s taking a social media exit, Lennox announced that his new single, “Smoke,” will be available on October 18.
