Haason Reddick turned down a one-year, multimillion-dollar offer from the Jets because of a deferral

Haason Reddicka pass rusher, was due to make $14.25 million this season when the Jets traded him to eagles. However, he declined to sign a multi-year deal, which would have made him one of the highest-paid pass rushers in the NFL. New York had a one-year deal in mind, with Reddick playing it out and being a free agent in 2025. The Jets didn’t have a clear cut available, and Reddick is currently the only NFL player holding out. He must report in week 13 to receive a cumulative season or his contract will take its toll and everyone will be in the same situation next year.

Haason Reddick turned down one-year offer from Jets amid resistance

The Jets’ Haason Reddick situation has taken a dramatic turn when the agency that represented him parted ways. This is the latest unusual event in the situation, which has become increasingly unusual. Initially, Reddick’s resistance seemed to end with a reworked one-year deal, but it all worked out with his former agents in CAA and Jets management. The deal would have allowed Reddick to offset the fines and make more money than he was originally slated to make.

The Jets and Reddick were considering a resolution to allow the pass rusher to play for them, earn his money and have a big offseason in 2024. However, Reddick refused to sign the deal, leaving the Jets to forward and wait for it to appear, even though there was no clear victory available. Reddick has balked at a multi-year deal with the Jets, which looks unattractive at the moment. The Jets traded him to the Eagles for $14.25 million, and New York is considering a one-year deal. Reddick is currently the only NFL player holding out and must report before Week 13 to receive an accrued season or face a toll on his contract next year. He could also choose to walk away from the game.
Jets owner Woody Johnson urged Reddick to attend news conference about coach’s firing Robert Saleh. “Haason, get in your car, get off (I)-95 and come to the New York Jetsand we’ll be able to meet you and escort you right into the building and you’ll fit right in,” Johnson said. “You’ll love it here and you’ll feel welcome and you’ll love achieving great things with us.” Johnson added further: “This is something I’ve never seen before, you know, and you’re even older than I am. I don’t think any of us have ever seen anything like it. I think you have to be part psychologist and part other essence to try to figure out what’s really going on.”
