Springs Preserve announces upcoming November and December events in Las Vegas

With just two months left in 2024, Springs Preserve invites guests to close out the year with them.

The venue will host several family-friendly events in November and December, as well as some recurring ones.

Events include:

Butterfly habitat

  • Until November 25: 10:00 – 15:00
  • Free for members or included with general admission
  • Wander through this unique butterfly habitat and witness the fascinating dance between free-flying butterflies, the plants that support them and their important role as pollinators in the ecosystem. Dates for this seasonal attraction may vary depending on the weather.

DRI Science at the Springs – The Nevada Story

  • Thursday, November 7: 6 – 8 p.m
  • Admission: $10, reservations required
  • This Desert Research Institute (DRI) lecture provides an in-depth look at Nevada’s archaeological heritage. Delve into Nevada history through archeology. Discover the meaning of Basque tree glyphs, explore findings from the DRI luminescence lab, and learn about ancient rock art using 360-degree environments.

Autumn Gardens Series – Winterize your garden

  • Saturday, November 9: 9:00am and 1:00pm
  • $10 for members and $15 for non-members, reservations required
  • Learn about desert gardening from Springs Preserve experts.

Salute Veterans Day with free admission

  • Monday, November 11: 9:00-16:00
  • Springs Preserve will offer free general admission to retired and active duty military personnel with valid ID on Monday, November 11th in honor of Veterans Day. Regular admission applies to accompanying guests.

Free admission for children with paid general admission for adults

  • December 1, 2024 – January 31, 2025
  • Need a break during the holidays? Get one free child admission for every paid adult general admission in December and January.

Autumn Garden Series – Native Plants

  • Sunday, December 8: 9 am and 1 pm
  • $10 for members and $15 for non-members
  • Explore how to landscape with plants native to the beautiful Mojave Desert. Springs Preserve’s expert horticulturists share their knowledge of plants and how they adapt to our hot, dry climate.

Springs Safari: Birds

  • Saturdays and Sundays in November: 11am
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • Explore the amazing world of birds and their incredible beaks. Learn about species native to southern Nevada and discover how different beak shapes help birds find food, build nests, and thrive in their habitats. Then take flight into the wonders of birds by going on a bird watching trip.

Canning for children: rainbows

  • Saturday and Sunday in November: 13.00
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • Discover the science behind this beautiful phenomenon with hands-on and creative activities that help you learn about light and the color spectrum.

Nature Exchange Badge Class: Biology

  • Saturday and Sunday in November: 14.00
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • Immerse yourself in the microscopic world where every creature tells a story. Discover the basic building blocks of life – cells.

Springs Safari: Plant and Animal Adaptations

  • Saturdays and Sundays in December: 11am
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • On safari, guests will look for plants and animals that use special tricks to survive the cold. Get ready for fun activities and a hands-on look at the incredible ways life thrives in the desert, even in the hottest season.

Conservation for children: snow

  • Saturday and Sunday in December: 13.00
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • Learn how snowflakes form, the science behind snowstorms, discover how snow plays an important role in helping to replenish water supplies and support wildlife habitats, and discuss ways to protect the environment and keep winters beautiful .

Nature Exchange Badge Class: Chemistry

  • Saturday and Sunday in December: 14.00
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • Get ready to marvel at the wonders of molecules as you earn your Chemistry Badge.

Activity for children, toddler time

  • Monday, Thursday and Friday: 11:00-12:00
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • Bring your little ones to Springs Preserve for kid-friendly fun with a new theme every week! Recommended for ages 5 and under.

WaterWorks Museum

  • Thursday-Monday: 9:00-16:00
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • The WaterWorks Museum is an interactive, behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of water treatment and delivery in Southern Nevada. Learn about the challenges and triumphs of water travel.

Boomtown 1905

  • Thursday-Monday: 9:00-16:00
  • Free for members or included with general admission.
  • Step back in time at Boomtown 1905, a recreated Las Vegas streetscape. Explore historic recreations of the original train depot, Arizona Club, Majestic Theatre, First State Bank, Lincoln Hotel and Las Vegas Mercantile. Encounter interpretive, interactive exhibits and period sets to learn about Las Vegas in the early 1900s.

  • Springs Café is open Thursday to Monday from 9:00am to 3:30pm
  • Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Hours vary for classes and special events
