Over 80 cases of burns, other injuries reported to hospitals

Over 80 cases of burns and other injuries reported at various hospitals, including the Civil Hospital, in the city during Diwali celebrations on Thursday.

The victims either suffered burns from crackers or faced injuries in minor clashes. According to reports, some people indulged in fights after consuming alcohol, while others sustained injuries in the clashes that took place during the festivities.

According to reports, five patients reported to the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), Ludhiana, one of whom sustained major eye injuries while the others sustained minor injuries. According to data provided by the DMCH, 11 patients reported to the Outpatient Department (OPD) with burns, while five reported to the Inpatient Department (IPD) that they had severe burns and were still undergoing treatment at the hospital. About 60 patients visited the Civil Hospital who faced burns and other injuries in various incidents.

An explosion of an LPG cylinder also took place at midnight on Lohara road, in which two people suffered burns. Rajat Kumar Gupta and 12-year-old Ayush Kumar were injured in the incident. The injured were hospitalized at CMCH. It was learned that while breaking crackers, the cylinder caught fire, which caused the explosion. The injured suffered injuries to their hands, face and stomach.

In Dhola Kakka village, two youths were attacked on their fingers with swords on Thursday evening. The victims’ car was also vandalized by unidentified miscreants. The injured youths, Sukhraj and Arsh, were taken to the Civil Hospital in the last few hours. Doctors at the hospital referred the two to a private hospital due to their serious condition. Arsh said that when he and Sukhraj were leaving the village in a car for work, some unidentified people surrounded them in Kakka Dhola village. They attacked them with sharp weapons and injured them. They even damaged their car.
