Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast Thursday in a wide-ranging, three-hour interview in which he suggested he and Trump can win the “normal gay vote” — a comment that was criticized by some . members of the LGBT community on social media.

The two discussed transgender medical treatments, as well as abortion, the Covid vaccine, American Muslims and Vance’s Netflix choices.

Vance at one point argued that affluent parents embrace their children’s transgender or nonbinary identities as a way to “reject your white privilege.”

“One way these people can participate in the DEI bureaucracy in this country is by being trans,” Vance said, referring to diversity, equity and inclusion policies.

Vance also criticized the Covid-19 vaccine, despite having received one.

“The sickest I’ve been in 15 years, by far, was when I got the vaccine,” he said.

Regarding the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, Vance said he went into “fight or flight mode” after hearing Trump was targeted.

“I went to a miniature golf place in Cincinnati, Ohio,” Vance said. He added that he had to gather his children, “throw them in the car, go home and load all my guns and basically stand like a sentry at our door.”

Trump himself appeared on Rogan’s podcast in a three-hour episode that aired five days ago.

Rogan, whose podcast has more than 18 million subscribers on YouTube, said he also invited Kamala Harris to his show, but added that he rejected terms set by her campaign, including a one-hour limit on interview.
