MORGAN CO., Ala. (Waffle) – A Priceville man accused of killing his ex-wife has been transferred to another jail facility, according to jail records.

Zachery Merriman was moved from the Lawrence County Jail to Morgan County on Tuesday, according to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office jail records.

Merriman was being held in the Lawrence County Jail on charges of assault and burglary. The Priceville Police Department obtained a warrant last week for Merriman in connection with the shooting death of his ex-wife Kimberly Ricks.

Officials said Ricks was found shot to death the morning of Oct. 20.

Ricks’ family said she had applied for a protective order against Merriman in the past, but was denied.

Merriman is charged with murder-murder and held without bail.
