Westbrook man sentenced after South Portland bank robbery, threat

PORTLAND, Maine (WABI) – A Westbrook man was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to three years in prison for a bank robbery in which he threatened to blow up the building.

Jason Arsenault, 41, of Westbrook, walked into a drive-thru window of a South Portland bank in January.

Using the tube, he handed the teller a note that read “CAR BOMB No Cops Alarms or WE ALL DIE $50,000 in 20’s,” according to court records.

The cashier put cash in the tube and Arsenault left.

He was arrested six days later and told authorities where the money was.

All but the 17 hundred dollars he was ordered to pay were recovered.
