Public safety investments allocated through the Violence Prevention and Intervention Fund in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A $300,000 allocation from the Violence Prevention and Intervention Fund is established to promote public safety in Kansas City, Missouri.

On Tuesday, Mayor Pro Tem Ryana Parks-Shaw and Councilwoman Nathan Willett announced that support for the Kansas City Missouri Police Department’s adoption of advanced Peregrine software has been approved through the Police Foundation.

According to the City, KCPD identified Peregrine Software as “essential to integrating and streamlining data to improve operational management and response.”

The city’s contribution aims to help bridge the funding gap for the three-year, $2 million cost, $1.7 million of which the Kansas City Police Foundation is actively fundraising for.

“Equipping law enforcement with the tools to respond promptly and effectively ultimately contributes to a safer Kansas City for all of us,” said Mayor Pro Tem Ryana Parks-Shaw, lead sponsor of the legislation.

Parks-Shaw said the software will strengthen the SAVE KC (Stand Against Violence Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day) focused deterrence program, an evidence-backed initiative that has helped other police departments achieve up to 40 percent reductions in open homicide cases.

The $300,000 allocation comes from the $30 million Violence Prevention and Intervention Fund.
