Election 2024: Women’s rights

Election 2024: Women’s rights

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Women’s rights are one of the top issues on the ballot for the 2024 election. In June 2022, the US Supreme Court effectively overturned the right to access abortion and the historic Roe versus Wade decision five years ago decades.

Gender inequality has disproportionately impacted women for centuries. According to Harvard’s Business Review and a long line of testimony, from the ongoing battles to receive fair wages to the latest efforts to protect women’s reproductive health options, both presidential candidates have discussed how they plan to protect women , if elected as the 47th president. of the United States.

Donald Trump says women seem to only be discussing one issue: “That’s all I talk about…abortion…because we did something nobody else could have done…now it’s where it’s supposed to be be always … with the states and the vote of the people.”

Abortion and legislation surrounding a woman’s right to choose are in the spotlight for both former President Donald Trump and current Vice President Kamala Harris.

Kamala Harris says, “We have to remind our friends, our neighbors, our colleagues. The stakes are so high. Because if he’s re-elected, I’m sure he’ll sign a national abortion ban that would ban abortion in every state.”

Trump has denied that he would sign an abortion ban, but has changed his position on the abortion ban several times, according to timelines by several media outlets, including the Washington Post and CNN.

Access to reproductive health options is also under discussion. In February 2024, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos, created as part of the IVF process, are children under state law. This could limit IVF access and care in a state and require doctors to pay more for malpractice insurance. In turn, this could make the IVF process even more expensive for families.

Donald Trump says: “I have always supported and defended IVF fertility, and so has the Republican Party.”

Trump has promised to protect IVF treatments, posting on Truth Social that his administration will support women’s rights. Senate Democrats have introduced a bill to provide nationwide access to IVF. It was criticized by Republicans as a political stunt and lacked the votes to become law.

Women’s rights will play a major role in this year’s election process. Non-profit organizations like the ACLU and several advocacy groups across the country are encouraging women to use their power at the polls.
