Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, 45, is wanted for first degree after authorities discovered he was using the identity of a deceased person.

Officials said they received a call Oct. 18 from a hiker in distress who claimed he had fallen off a cliff while running from a bear.

Authorities determined the call came from the Charles Hall Bridge area and was dispatched.

The sheriff’s office said they discovered a deceased person with the identification of Brandon Kristopher Andrade on his person.

After further investigation, detectives determined that the deceased person was not Brandon Andrade and that the identification was stolen.

Authorities said they discovered the identification was used multiple times by Hamlett.

Hamlett also used a false name when he spoke to law enforcement after a distressed hiker’s call, according to officials.

Hamlett is wanted for first degree murder and anyone who sees him or knows where he is is asked to call law enforcement.
