State Rep. Sanford is wanted for alleged aggravated assault, police said

Oct. 26—Police are searching for a Maine state representative who is wanted for alleged aggravated assault.

The Sanford Police Department has an arrest warrant for state Rep. Lucas Lanigan, police confirmed Saturday.

Lanigan, a Republican, represents the 141st District, comprising parts of Shapleigh, Newfield, Sanford and Springvale.

The alleged attack was “domestic related,” said Sanford Police Maj. Mark Dyer. The investigation is still ongoing, he added.

Lanigan was elected to the House in 2022 and is running for re-election in November against Democrat Patricia Kidder. He lives in the Springfield area of ​​Sanford.
