Sparks are tracking along SR-417 in Orange County, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A burglary in St. Johns on Friday sparked a car chase along State Road 417, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a statement, troopers said they received an alert about a suspect and a vehicle involved in a burglary in St. Johns.

Afterward, an officer saw the vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of SR-417 near SR-528, and the officer began pursuing the suspect, the release said.

“The vehicle began to actively flee and (Orange County Sheriff’s Office) Chase followed the vehicle,” the statement said. “The vehicle pulled into a parking lot and Chase lost sight.”

According to investigators, the driver then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

As a result, there is an ongoing multi-agency search for the suspect, troopers said.

Meanwhile, the military added that there are already three subjects in custody being interviewed by investigators.

No additional information has been released at this time, including the identity of the suspect or the context of the burglary.
