HWS hosts Finger Lakes Chamber mixer, showcases campus involvement

The Finger Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce held its October Business After Hours Mixer on Oct. 9 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ Gearan Center for the Performing Arts, an event focused on networking and campus-community engagement.

Katie Flowers, director of the Colleges Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning, hosted the event, emphasizing the Center’s mission to cultivate civically engaged students. Attendees included Chamber staff, board members, HWS faculty and community members who gathered for a networking session and learned about HWS’s service learning programs and local impact.

Chamber President Miranda Odell congratulated Flowers and HWS for their partnership and hospitality, noting the longstanding relationship between the institutions. Stephanie Yearsley, Director of Conference Services, thanked her team for coordinating the event and introduced HWS event services, highlighting options for hosting both on-campus and off-campus events.

Guests concluded the event with campus tours led by HWS students. The next Chamber mixer, featuring a ride on the Finger Lakes Railway, is scheduled for November 13. Registration is required, with tickets available on the Chamber website or by contacting (email protected).
