James Yap reveals he hasn’t seen son Bimby in a decade

Basketball star-turned-politician James Yap recently shared that he hasn’t seen his son, Bimby Aquino Yap, in over 10 years.

Yap made the revelation during an interview on October 8, after officially filing his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for re-election as councilor in the first district of San Juan City.

“Ten years not”, Yap admitted when asked about his current relationship with Bimby, his son with actress and TV host Kris Aquino.

Yap and Aquino married in 2005 through a civil ceremony, and Bimby was born in 2007. However, the couple separated in 2010, and since then Yap has had no contact with their son .

As Yap campaigns for a second term in the 2025 elections, his candidacy has drawn attention to his personal life, particularly his split from Bimby. Despite this, Yap continues to focus on his career in politics and basketball.

If re-elected, this will mark Yap’s second term as a councilor in the city of San Juan, where he has been committed to public service since taking office.
