Perth man, 16, charged with murder in death of 15-year-old man

Perth provincial police have charged a 16-year-old with second-degree murder after a youth was found dead on Friday.

Lanark County officers responded to the area of ​​North Street North and Sherbrooke Street East just before 3pm on Friday.

One person was found dead and another person was arrested at a home in the area.

Police have not released the cause of death.

Police identified the victim as a Perth resident.

The suspect remains in custody with a virtual bail hearing scheduled for Saturday in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.

This person’s identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Anyone who shares the name publicly may be subject to criminal charges.

The OPP reported that residents can expect to continue to see a large police presence Saturday as the investigation continues.
