Free recital for young Halloween artist | News, Sports, Jobs

The recitals feature both solo and chamber ensemble performances by the next generation of classical musicians in the welcoming and intimate setting of the Opera House.

FREDONIA – The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center will present a special free-admission recital featuring some of the State University of New York’s most talented young artists at the Fredonia School of Music on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. .

Presented in partnership with Eliran Avni and Natasha Farny of Ekstasis Duo, the performance is part of a concert initiative created by the Duo. The recitals feature both solo and chamber ensemble performances by the next generation of classical musicians in the welcoming and intimate setting of the Opera House.

Designed to give young artists the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings for a wider audience, the initiative also serves to strengthen the relationship between the Opera House and the School of Music.

The recital program will include music by JS Bach, Jennifer Higdon, Mozart, Poulenc, Schubert, Strauss and others. With this recital falling on Halloween, expect some spooky fun to be part of the show. Admission is free, although donations are gratefully accepted.

Opera programming is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts, with support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, as well as the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County. The free-admission events are supported by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation Arts & Culture Initiative, administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is a non-profit, member-supported performing arts center with a mission to “Presenting the performing arts for the benefit of our community and region … providing access to artistic diversity … and high-quality programming at an affordable price.” It is located in the Village Hall in downtown Fredonia.
