Omaha man gets prison for Kearney robbery

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) – An Omaha man is going to prison for his role in a May 2023 case involving a stolen truck and shots fired at its owner.

Jerome Quinn, 28, was convicted of robbery, theft, possession of burglar’s tools, drug possession, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest. A judge sentenced him to 13-16 years in prison on those charges.

Quinn was arrested after a wild incident on May 18, 2023, when police said a person reported being robbed in his home at gunpoint and assaulted by two men, Quinn and Ronnie Swartz, 28, of Kearney.

Later that morning, police said Quinn and Swartz stole a pickup truck from a west Kearney apartment complex parking lot.

Court records indicate the owner of the pickup followed the pair in another vehicle. Quinn later stopped driving the truck on West 18th Street and allegedly began shooting at the owner. The owner was not injured and deputies later found the truck abandoned on a gravel road just west of Kearney.

Police arrested Quinn and Swartz later that night at a home in east Kearney.

As for Swartz, he was convicted of aiding and abetting a robbery, obstructing an officer and drug possession. He was scheduled for sentencing Friday.
