LL Cool J sat down with Fat Joe for an episode of Fat Joe Talks on Friday (Oct. 18), and among the multitude of topics covered was Weezy being snubbed for the Super Bowl headline spot for K. Dot.

The “Loungin'” rapper gave his flowers to Wayne, but it’s great that Kendrick is having his moment right now, with the numbers he put up on the board this year. LL thinks Wayne will get his chance too.

“(Lil Wayne) is one of our great artists, he’s an incredible writer. He’s going to have his day, let Kendrick get it,” he said. “Here’s the thing: Your time is going to come (and) you’re going to have your day … You’re going to have your time. You can’t let yourself be broken. The only reason he makes me laugh is because I know how blessed he is, how successful he is. So you don’t need to worry about this moment. It’s just a moment, brother. It’s just a moment.”

LL Cool J brought up how he wasn’t voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for many years on the record before making his way in 2021. With all the success he and other artists of his ilk have enjoyed , referred to these. types of crashes as “champagne problems”.

“These are champagne issues. There are guys who can’t hear their demo. I think we get a little bit, unintentionally, spoiled,” he admitted. “Wayne is the cream of the crop.”

Kendrick was announced by the NFL and Roc Nation as the headliner for Super Bowl LIX in September, and it took a devastated Wayne a few days to gather himself before speaking.

“That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a lot,” he said in a video posted to Instagram. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a disappointment. … But I thought there was nothing better than that place, that stage and that platform in my city, so it hurt.”
