Cowboys plan to trade for WR

Jerry Jones he didn’t see his 2024 team living up to his expectations, but the Cowboys aren’t selling. In fact, the owner confirmed that a full purchase effort is underway.

After Jones appeared to show more interest in adding before today’s deadline, he said during an interview with 105.3 The Fan (via Todd Archer of ESPN.com) wide receiver trade should be expected. This is certainly an interesting development as the Cowboys are 3-5 and almost signals that a trade is imminent.

Jones indicated that this mystery passer attracted the interest of the team that came out of the draft – whichever one said the player was part of. The Cowboys have Brandin Cooks on IR, leaving CeeDee Lamb short on complementary help. Lamb is also uncertain for Week 10, but the All-Pro isn’t certain to be available. The recently expanded WR1 suffered a AC joint injury at week 9.

The receiver market has already seen some dominoes, although there are still a few trade chips left. It would be borderline amazing if the Giants make it Darius Slayton to a division rival, so that path is likely closed. One of the Patriots’ trade pieces could be in play here. Beyond Kendrick Bourne, KJ Osborne and Tyquan Thornton are believed to be available. Idem Adam Thielenbut he wouldn’t qualify as a player on a draft-friendly team; after all, Thielen is 34 years old and caught on with the Vikings after impressing in rookie minicamp.
