The 26-year-old returned to Lennoxtown yesterday after a three-game layoff before the international break. And in the training photos released by the club through their social networks, CCV could be seen training today.

Brendan Rodgers previously stated that the American centre-back has been carrying a nagging injury for some time and that the club must manage him sufficiently from now on.

Carter-Vickers’ compatriot Auston Trusty filled the defensive slot alongside Liam Scales since the tall defender’s absence. Trusty, who signed from English Championship side Sheffield United in the summer for £6.5m, earned his first national cap in 16 months three days ago as Mauricio Pochettino’s USA suffered a 2-0 defeat -0 against Mexico at Estadio Akron.

Absent for the Hoops in Dortmund, the welcome return of Cameron Carter-Vickers is a big addition for Brendan Rodgers as his side prepare to head to Bergamo for Wednesday’s Champions League clash.

Amazingly, during Ange Postecoglou’s two years and the return of Brendan Rodgers, Celtic have made 14 appearances in Europe’s elite club competition. Cameron Carter-Vickers has only started seven of those games.

First up though, Celtic face their nearest league rivals Aberdeen. Tomorrow afternoon’s test will be an entertaining one with the Dons traveling to Celtic Park with a 100% record in the league so far and also having won a number of games at the League club as they were involved in the early rounds as how they were this year does not participate in European football.

Jimmy Thelin has settled into life in Scotland smoothly and will be delighted to face the best team in the country after a favorable run of games to start his campaign.
