Black Stars head coach Otto Addo believes Ghanaians are stuck in the past following the team’s recent collapse in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars have not won a game in four Group F games and are on the brink of missing out on next year’s tournament in Morocco.

Addo, who played with some of Ghana’s best players in the late 1990s and early 2000s, insists there is a big difference between today’s team and the team of his era.

“Sometimes I think people are a bit stuck in the past and we always refer to the past. I cannot compare our players who have played for Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan. We had all those types of players. Now I can’t compare them, with all due respect, to our players. Maybe they’ll get there, but we’re not there now,” he said in his post-match presser after the Sudan match, as quoted by 3 News.

At the last Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana failed to make it past the group stage and failed to beat the so-called minnows of the continent, including Comoros.

Otto Addo wants time with Ghana

The former Black Stars player believes the team will need time to return to its glory days.
