Police standoff in Meade County ends peacefully

RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – The sheriff’s office returned to the 8100 block of South Blucksberg Street after an assault that took place early this morning.

They say the suspect, 43-year-old Daniel O’Crotty of Sturgis, refused to leave the residence and told law enforcement to leave. O’Crotty also refused to be taken to prison.

Due to the seriousness of the threats made to law enforcement, the Pennington County Special Response Team from Rapid City was called in to assist in the arrest. When the Special Response Team arrived this afternoon, the sheriff’s office said O’Crotty surrendered.

O’Crotty is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, simple assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

His court date has not been set.
